Susan Landgraf A writer and award-winning photographer, Susan Landgraf has published more than 400 poems, essays, and articles in numerous journals and magazines. Most recently her poems have appeared, or are forthcoming, in Prairie Schooner, Poet Lore, Nimrod, Calyx, The Bellingham Review, Literary Mama, Kestrel, Margie, and The Sow’s Ear. Her full-length poetry collection What We Bury Changes the Ground was published by Tebot Bach in 2017. Other Voices, a chapbook, was published by Finishing Line Press; and a textbook, Student Reflection Journal for Student Success, was published by Prentice Hall. Landgraf has given more than 150 writing workshops, and her honors include two Pushcart Prize nominations; Pablo Neruda, Society of Humanistic Anthropology, and Academy of American Poets awards; a Jack Straw Productions grant; Centrum, Hedgebrook, Ragdale, Soapstone, Whiteley, Willard R. Espy, and Willapa Bay Writers in Residence residencies; and a Theodore Morrison scholarship at Bread Loaf. Landgraf worked as a reporter and photographer for seven years. After earning her Bachelor’s and MFA degrees at the University of Washington, she taught writing, journalism, media, literature, Diversity and Globalism, and college studies for 27 years at Highline College. Through an exchange program between Highline and Shanghai Jiao Tong University, she taught at SJTU in 2002, 2008, 2010 and 2012. Retired from full-time teaching, she serves now on the Highline Foundation Board and spends time with her family and friends; she logs in some 40-60 hours a week writing, leading workshops, and being part of several writing groups.
